The Community Development Department reviews and processes all development application within the City for General Plan and development code/zoning compliance. They also review all building plans and complete building inspections in compliance with the International Building Code (IBC).

Department Values:

1. - Provide for the orderly development of the City through proper zoning requirements, development procedures and compliance with building codes.
2. - Help shape the future of the City by keeping the General Plan up to date and looking for innovative ways to channel the growth of the City to meet residents' needs.
3. - Protect and enhance the safety and utility of building structures within the City by providing quality building plan review and building inspections.
4. - Keep the Zoning Ordinance/Development Code up to day with standards that reflect the goals and policies of the City's General Plan.
5. - Provide quality and timely planning and building customer service to residents, developers, builders, contractors and other City departments.
6. - Help implement the City's Core Values by using: QP=(L,G&C) (Quality Place equals Lean, Green, and Clean).
7. - Meet planning and building needs of the City by serving as staff to the City's Boards and Commissions: City Council, Planning commission, Board of Adjustment, Board of Appeals, Architectural Review Committee, and City Management.
