Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the process once I have received a citation?
Answer: After the citation is issued to you by an officer, the officer gives the citation to the police department, the police department in turn sends it to us. We enter the citation and give it a case number. You need to contact the court no less than 5 days but no more than 14 days from the date of violation.
If the citation is a bailable offense you may either mail your payment, pay online or bring it into the court clerks office for a receipt. The court also has a drop box located on the East side of the building near the flag pole.

If the violation requires a mandatory court appearance you will need to appear for an arraignment before the judge, to enter your plea.

Question: What if I have a question regarding my rights or wanting legal advise?
Answer: You have the right to be represented by an attorney, that includes the right to have a court appointed attorney if you qualify. The court clerks are not attorneys and therefore not allowed to give legal advise. If you have any legal questions before appearing for your court date, please contact an attorney.
