Sanitation Services

The City provides an automated curbside collection of residential garbage and recyclable materials through Ace Recycling and Disposal. Monthly fees for garbage and recycling service can be found here on the City’s fee schedule. Garbage and recycle containers are provided and maintained through the City’s Sanitation Division. The containers are 96 gallons, garbage containers are grey, and recycling are green.

Neighborhood Dumpster Rental

The Neighborhood Dumpster Program is a low-cost service that includes the delivery of a 15-yard waste dumpster for $40.00 per day and $80.00 per weekend/holiday.
*Service is for residential use only.

There are restrictions on what can be placed in the dumpster including: tires, hazardous waste materials, and appliances. Please read the list during the reservation process. Dumpster rentals fees are applied to the following month’s utility bill.

Fees cannot be paid in advance.

Renters will not be allowed to schedule dumpsters, but can request the property owner to schedule one on their behalf.

Special Services Waste Pickup

Residents can schedule a Special Service Pick-up for items that cannot be picked up by the normal weekly garbage service, for a $15 fee.

A special Christmas Tree Pickup can also be scheduled. Trees must be placed near the road, and must have all lights, ornaments and other decorations removed.

Debris must be bagged or boxed and may not be larger than a 5’x5’x5’ pile. In lieu of a pile, one or two large items such as couches or appliances may be placed for pick up.

Tires, batteries, drum containers; concrete, household hazardous waste, large tree stumps and e-waste are not allowed with this service.

Ace Disposal will collect garbage and recyclables on the same day each week, except holidays. To ensure pickup, residents should place garbage and recycling containers at curbside the night before or by 6:30 a.m. on the morning of pickup.

Holiday schedule

Collection for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day will be delayed by one day and for all days remaining in that week.

South Jordan participates in the TransJordan Landfill. The City’s contractor observes the same holiday schedule as the landfill; therefore there will be no collections on New Year’s, Christmas, Independence, and Thanksgiving days. Collections after the holiday will be delayed one day for the remainder of that week, only when the actual holiday falls on a weekday.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and E-waste

Disposal of Hazardous waste and e- waste is free to Salt Lake County residents at the TransJordan Landfill.

Household Hazardous Waste includes: antifreeze, lithium batteries, fluorescent light tubes, fuels, gasoline, oils, paint, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals.

E-Waste includes: computers, TVs, audio equipment and cell phones – anything with a circuit board.
