This area is federally protected land and is not accessible to the public. These areas provide wetland mitigation and wildlife refuges and habitats.
Mystic Springs Wetland Educational Area is accessed at the Jordan River Trailhead located at Shields Lane and the river bottoms (947 West Shields Lane). This area is still under development, but once complete, it will mirror the federally protected wetlands on the east side of the Jordan River. This approximately 30 acres will provide opportunities for residents to enjoy the nature of the Jordan River and its corresponding wetlands. Throughout the site will be educational areas, and ADA trail, foot paths, lookout points to view the wildlife and native vegetation, and other amenities. South Jordan has received two separate grants to protect the natural development of this area. Feel free to stop by and enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer.

Each July South Jordan participates in National Parks & Recreation Month. This celebration allows the city the opportunity to educate and promote the many benefits parks, open space, trails, and recreation programs add to the quality of life in our community. South Jordan hosts a number of contests and events each July to provide a number of opportunities for all residents to participate and celebrate with us.
Geocaching Program
South Jordan started participating in Geocaching as a way to celebrate Parks and Recreation month and to encourage participants to visit unique parks and places in the City they may not have known about. Each year a series of 6 new caches are hidden throughout the city as part of the July’s celebration. All of the past geocaches are kept and maintained throughout the year to keep the fun going. Visit www.geocaching.com to learn more about geocaching, and search for the user South Jordan City to see a list of all our hidden caches.
