Project Activities: Week of September 25
- Crews are finishing up relocating hydrants and replacing water meters through this week. Some water shutoffs are needed for this work and West Jordan Public Utilities will be notifying affected homeowners.
- Crews are pouring new concrete curb and gutter along the west side of 1300 West and will finish up next week. ·
- Beginning as early as Wednesday, September 27, crews will begin work on installing drain pipes along the east side of 1300 West. During this work, the southbound traffic lane will shift slightly to allow for drainage installation. ·
- Crews anticipate paving asphalt along the west side of 1300 West as early as October 9. Once pavement is down crews will shift traffic to the west and begin work on the east side of the road.
- Northbound 1300 West is reduced to one lane southbound from approximately 9220 South to 9400 South while crews complete utility work and pave the roadway. Local traffic will have northbound access from Shields Lane (9840 South) to 9400 South.
Southbound traffic will be maintained. Flaggers may be present to assist the flow of traffic around the work zone. ·
All northbound through traffic should use Shields Lane to Redwood Road and 9000 South as an alternate route. Please see map below.
1300 West improvements are planned in three phases (see map) with Phase 1 starting in August 2023 through Fall 2023*.
Phase 2 is anticipated in summer 2024, and funding is still being determined for Phase 3. *dates are subject to change due to weather, material availability, etc.

Dominion Energy will be starting work at Four B Lane and 1300 West on Monday. This project will head south to 11400 South and it is anticipated to take the duration of the summer.
Dominion Energy has a website set up to answer residents questions/concerns. Please refer them to https://www.dominionenergy.com/projects-and-facilities/natural-gas-projects/gas-feeder-line-34
Need for the project: The Feeder Line 34 replacement project is located in Salt Lake City from Bennion Blvd to 11400 South. This project is necessary to keep pace with the increased demand for natural gas due to customer growth along the Wasatch Front. It will also enhance our ability to continue providing safe, clean, reliable natural gas service by replacing aging infrastructure and making our system easier to monitor and maintain.
Location: This section of the natural gas pipeline is located in Salt Lake City. It runs down 1300 West from 7800 South to 11400 South. See the map for the exact route of the current construction.
Construction Schedule: We are committed to completing this work as quickly and with as little inconvenience to local businesses and residents as possible. Crews are scheduled to start in February 2023 and finish in late fall 2023. To expedite construction, multiple crews may be working simultaneously at various locations and may perform nighttime and weekend work. No interruption to residents’ natural gas service is anticipated during this project.
To provide room for crews and equipment, some temporary lane restrictions, especially at intersections, will be necessary. Please drive carefully and obey all signs and flaggers. To avoid congestion in construction zones, motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible and to allow plenty of travel time to get where they're going. At all times, our crews will make every effort to maintain access to businesses and driveways in construction zones.
