About Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments

These monuments honor the families of active military members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. That is a message that our Mayor and City Council wanted to bring to the Gold Star Families in South Jordan and the whole Salt Lake Valley.

Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments are a two-sided tribute made of black granite. One side bears the words: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom. On the other side of the monument, there are scenes etched on each of the four panels: Homeland, Family, Patriot and Sacrifice. At the center of this tribute, is a silhouette of a saluting service member which represents the Legacy of the Loved Ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The groundbreaking was on May 14, 2022 and the City is planning a fall dedication of the monument.

Community Member Donations

Community members can be involved in bringing this monument to South Jordan by donating through the Woody Williams website. The City is looking to raise $25,000 from community members and local businesses. Anything additional will go to offsetting the costs of manufacturing and installing the monument.

Business Donations

If you are a business owner and this is something that you would like to bring to our City, we would love to have your contribution and offer you a place to commemorate your contribution at the monument site. The following are ideas of how you can contribute.

Platinum Bench - $10,000 – In recognizing the sacrifices made by Gold Star Families with our highest donation level, you will get one of a few exclusive granite benches on which your name will be engraved.

Platinum Block - $7,500 – In supporting our Gold Star Families by bringing this monument to our City you will get an optimum listing on granite blocks near the monument.

Gold - $5,000 - In supporting bringing this beautiful monument to our homeland you will get a premium listing on the granite blocks near the monument.

Silver - $2,500 - As a patriot and supporter of our Gold Star Families, you will get an excellent listing on the granite blocks near the monument.

Bronze - $1,000 – As a supporter of our Gold Star Families, you will get a listing on the granite blocks near the monument.
