Join South Jordan City Mayor Dawn R. Ramsey on September 7, 2022, as she dedicates the first ever Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Salt Lake County and the third in the state of Utah.

These monuments honor the families of military members who have made the ultimate sacrifice and died in military combat.

These two-sided monuments are a tribute made of black granite. One side bears the words: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom. On the other side of the monument, there are scenes etched on each of the four panels: Homeland, Family, Patriot and Sacrifice. At the center of this tribute is a silhouette of a saluting service member which represents the legacy of the loved ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The monument is located at the South Jordan Public Safety Building Plaza at 10655 South Redwood Road. The gathering begins at 6:00 p.m. and the dedication starts at 6:30 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend this dedication to honor Gold Star Families in our community.
