South Jordan's New Senior Center Project

Mayor talking with staff and seniors

At a recent luncheon at the South Jordan Community Center, Mayor Dawn Ramsey announced that the city is embarking on a transformative mission to enhance the lives of its senior citizens with the South Jordan Senior Center and Affordable Housing Project. The proposed center would be located at 3788 W 10200 S, South Jordan, UT, 84009. This project addresses the pressing needs of senior residents by introducing a dedicated 17,000-square-foot Senior Center alongside 138 senior housing units, including 104 reserved for affordable living.

Mayor Dawn Ramsey expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Our thriving seniors have been asking for a dedicated space for years. There has been high demand to support our senior community and expand our services, and this project allows us to do that."

The meticulously designed Senior Center, shaped with insights from seniors themselves, promises versatile spaces for activities, a well-equipped kitchen, and convenient parking. The project is a joint venture between South Jordan City and Ivory Innovations Operating Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization committed to innovative and affordable housing solutions.

Community engagement is at the heart of this project, with an open house scheduled for September 27, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station 62, where residents can ask questions and offer feedback. Additionally, the project will undergo review by the Planning Commission on October 24, 2023, and a public hearing on the site plan and rezone will be held by the City Council on November 7, 2023.

The South Jordan Senior Center and Affordable Housing Project promises to be a low-impact, low-traffic, high-value development, aligning with South Jordan's commitment to environmental sustainability and the well-being of its seniors.
