[ARCHIVED] Fundraising to Bring a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Home

Gold Star Families Memorial

The City of South Jordan is working to bring a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument to our City. These monuments honor the families of active military members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We want to bring this memorial to South Jordan to honor our Gold Star Families," said Mayor Dawn Ramsey. "Part of that is working together through fundraising and spreading the word.

South Jordan is fundraising to help pay for the monument in hopes that community members will get involved in the process as they learn about Gold Star Families.

Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments are a two-sided tribute made of black granite. One side bears the words: Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives who sacrificed a Loved One for our Freedom. On the other side of the monument, there are scenes etched on each of the four panels: Homeland, Family, Patriot and Sacrifice. At the center of this tribute, is a silhouette of a saluting service member which represents the Legacy of the Loved Ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Memorial Day. If you want to get involved, you can scan the QR code in the graphic above to donate and encourage your fellow residents to do the same.

Thank you for helping us honor the families who have made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. This monument will be a beautiful addition to our City.
