[ARCHIVED] Resolution Passes Condemning Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Resolution R2022-17 recognizes the Ukrainian's love for freedom and condemns Russia's unjustified invasion of Ukraine. Representative Jordan Teuscher came to talk about his experience with Ukraine in support of the City's resolution.

RESOLUTION R2022 - 17 

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH, UNJUSTIFIED INVASION OF UKRAINE.  CALLING UPON THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO CEASE FIRE AND VACATE THE SOVEREIGN TERRITORY OF UKRAINE AND URGE THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND RESTORE PEACE IN EUROPE.  

WHEREAS, on January 21, 1990, more than 300,000 Ukrainians called for unity and independence from the Soviet Union by forming a human chain between the cities of Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk; and WHEREAS, after years of oppression, in 1991, Ukraine won freedom from the Soviet Union's totalitarian government because of the Ukrainian's love of liberty.
