Tamara Zander and her husband, Corey, have three married sons and a daughter who are the highlight of their life. Tamara met Corey in 1990 while they were both students attending BYU in Provo. As newlyweds, they strengthened the local community and state by serving as state and county delegates. Being civically involved in the community has always been important to Corey and Tamara. Even their kids were blessed to see their parent's passion for the city of South Jordan as they walked neighborhoods and interacted with residents while Tamara campaigned for City Council.
As a founding board member for Early Light Academy, Tamara was key in collaborating with Kennecott Land and the city of South Jordan for the school's land acquisition. She also volunteered on Community Councils, PTA leadership, Cub Scouts and leadership roles in her church organizations.
At the business level, Tamara and Corey own and operate the well-respected Zander Real Estate Team here in South Jordan. The independent brokerage located in the heart of Daybreak continues to build a team of exceptional agents and staff that fulfills the company's mission to serve and care for its clients and community.
Running her own business, Tamara understands the importance of supporting local businesses and creating a strong community. This continues to be a guiding principle as she serves as an elected official. Being Councilwoman has given Tamara the honor to meet both amazing residents and elected officials who truly care about building and enhancing the city of South Jordan and our great state of Utah. Tamara wholeheartedly believes that much can be accomplished when we work in unison toward a common goal.
Tamara also understand the importance of education as she raised 4 children. She, along with a group of friends, founded one of the first Charter Schools in South Jordan and was key in collaborating with Kennecott Land and the city for Early Light Academy's land acquisition. In addition, she has also volunteered on Community Councils, PTA leadership, Cub Scouts, and leadership roles in her church.
A passion of Tamara's is promoting healthy living. She has helped thousands of South Jordan residents reach and exceed their health goals by teaching water aerobics fitness classes for more than 25 years, including currently teaching at the local SLCounty Pool on Redwood Road. As well, make sure to wave or stop and say hi when you see Tamara and Corey enjoying their e-bikes on the local trails throughout the state! Another place you might run into them is walking paddle boarding around the Oquirrh Lake in Daybreak.
If you've spent any amount of time with Tamara you'll quickly experience her love of traveling, adventure, and experiencing other cultures. She might even tell you this was in part influenced by her broad education experiences of attending Ricks College, BYU Provo, BYU Jerusalem Study Aboard, as well as having served her LDS mission in Lima Peru.
