    CALL FOR UTAH ARTISTS:
    Request for Proposals

    APPLICATION DEADLINE:
    Wednesday, August 24, 2022

    COMMISSION BUDGET:
Up to $5,000, dependent on experience, scope and complexity of proposal.

    PROJECT BACKGROUND:

The City of South Jordan and the South Jordan Arts Council are requesting proposals for the commissioning of one mural, located beneath the 10600 S. Bridge on the Jordan River Trail.

The purpose of this project is to create a sense of community and add vibrancy to this heavily utilized section of Jordan River Trail in South Jordan. This area hosts a variety recreation activities and connects users to Mulligan’s Golf and Games, local restaurants, businesses, parks, and the Midas Fishing Ponds.

The installation of this mural will also coincide with South Jordan’s Get to the River event. This event will be held on Saturday, September 24 and is part of the greater Get to the River Festival that takes place throughout all of September. More information about Get to the River can be found at www.gettotheriver.org.

The proposals for this mural project are being considered for installation along the east wall of the tunnel, which is currently blank. The west wall features an existing rotating public art project for student and amateur artists. While artists may submit a proposal for either or both mural locations for consideration, this particular request for proposals, its timeline, and associated set of criteria are for the east wall only.

The organizations mentioned above are pleased to provide an opportunity for any Utah artist or Utah artist lead team to respond to this RFP with a mural proposal.
