Spring is around the corner and little wild critters are starting to become mobile. We’re talking about raccoons, skunks, and other critters that can carry rabies. South Jordan Animal Services would like to remind you to keep your pets updated on their vaccinations, especially their rabies vaccinations.

Rabies vaccination information is needed when licensing your dog under South Jordan City ordinance 6.12.010. License tags are required to be worn at all times. Many people ask why they need a license for their dogs. First, it is great identification if your dog decides to explore away from home. Second, it is an indicator the animal has been properly vaccinated.

There are three ways to license your dogs: online, by downloading the application and mailing it in with your rabies vaccination information, or coming to visit us in person at City Hall, the Public Works building, or the South Jordan Animal Shelter. Hours of operation vary at each location, so be sure to check the current hours before you make a trip.

If you have any questions about Title 6 of the City ordinance pertaining to animals, please don’t hesitate to contact South Jordan Animal Services at 801-254-3742.
