Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Midas Creek being Updated
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued updated/preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Midas Creek, which runs through portions of South Jordan City.
Residents that live or own property in the areas near and around Midas Creek, please refer to the FEMA website where you will be able to view the proposed flood hazard maps to see if your property will be effected by the changes.
Before these changes go into effect there is a mandatory appeal period from now until June 9, 2020. All appeals and comments must meet the following criteria:
- All appeals/technical comments must be based on technical data that meets FEMA mapping standards and demonstrates the need to update the preliminary study.
- All appeals/technical comments and supporting technical data concerning property in South Jordan City should be submitted to the City no later than May 29, 2020, allowing time for review and forwarding of the appeal to FEMA, within the appeal period.
