SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION!  Although summer is not officially over, it is for the 10,000+ South Jordan children heading back to school.  While you’re out motoring, please watch for reduced speed school zones and slow to 20 MPH in those areas along with stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks.  Our traffic division will be out making sure motorists are following the rules ensuring our students make it to school (and back home) safely each day!

Parents, remind your students to look both ways before crossing the street, don’t walk distracted, and wear a helmet when riding a bicycle or scooter.

Things to remember:

  1. School buses: Yellow flashing lights mean slow down, the bus is preparing to stop. Red flashing lights mean stop. You must remain stopped while the red lights are on.
  2. School crosswalks: When a pedestrian is using a school zone crosswalk, you may not proceed through the crossing area until the pedestrian has reached the sidewalk on the other side. Please obey all crossing guards.
  3. Walking – Remember to look both ways and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street. Always cross at intersections and crosswalks.

Thanks and let’s have a safe school year!
