Stay active this winter with our SoJo Winter Fitness Challenge. This 8 week challenge includes 2 live races (Santa Sprint and Break the Freeze), and 6 virtual races. The 6 virtual races can be completed on your own time after the routes are marked and sent out each week. Win prizes as you earn points for completing fitness goals. Earn bonus points by showing up to the live events. Register through the SoJo Santa Sprint registration by selecting Winter Fitness Challenge. Shirts and medals for the Santa Sprint and Break the Freeze are included in registration.

    What is Rucking?

    Rucking is simply walking with a weighted rucksack or backpack. You wear a backpack or rucksack, add weight, walk, it’s a fitness thing. And you’re already doing it. It implies action, energy, and purpose. Rucking requires strength, endurance, character and builds it too. Hiking is rucking in the mountains and urban hiking is simply called rucking.

    Why Rucking?

    Its cardio that burns up to 3x as many calories as walking. The weight adds resistance training to your back, shoulders, your glutes and legs with every step–resulting in strength gains in your muscles. Rucking exercises can be done at any weight. Start small (5-10lbs) and work your way up. Want more? Up the weight, increase the distance, or go faster. You get to decide.
