Resident on Display – Charles Larson @ Gale Center of History & Culture
May 2 @ 8:00 am – Jun 23 @ 9:00 am

 Charles Larson

Why I Paint – “I paint what I love. Every morning I get up and look at the Wa-satch Mountains and give thanks. I love the sky, clouds, moun-tains, the rolling hills, trees, flowers, wide rivers, and small streams. I love people. I love what I paint. Artists try to paint the depth of feelings that speaks to the soul. As I move about in the world, I measure the landscapes to fit into the shape of a frame. I imagine the land-scape as a finished painting that might express both the visual beauty and the feelings of the heart and soul that move me to paint. Because at times, I feel that I have not achieved both goals, I feel that the painting is incomplete. Therefore, I am reluctant to show my work.”

Stage 4 welcomes South Jordan City as a first-time Tour of Utah host community on Aug. 3. The race passed through the area last year but it will have an official designation as a start and finish line for a circuit race.

Scheduled for July 31-Aug. 6, the Tour of Utah will begin in Logan and conclude in Salt Lake City. Daily stages include four first-time hosts in Brigham City, Big Cottonwood Canyon, South Jordan City and Layton; challenging climbs in the Wasatch Range around Snowbasin Resort; a flag-waving sprint finish in Bountiful; and the traditional Queen Stage from Heber Valley to Snowbird Resort.
