2023 REBATES!
South Jordan City, with the support of Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, is providing residents and businesses the opportunity to apply for rebate programs that encourage water conservation in and around the home. The water conservation programs consist of after-mail-in-rebates once the requirements of the chosen rebate are met.
South Jordan City Water Conservation Rebate Programs are only valid for residents and businesses within South Jordan City boundaries except for the Landscape Irrigation Product Rebate (sprinkler controller rebate) which is provided and managed by Central Utah Water Conservancy District and available to Utah County and Salt Lake County.
For more information about rebate programs or to submit rebate forms please email Connor Oswald: coswald@sjc.utah.gov or call (801)253-5203 ext. 5025

FREE ROCK MULCH WITH THE FLIP-YOUR-STRIP PROGRAM
Replace the thirsty grass in your parkstrip with a combination of beautiful rock mulch and water wise plants. 50% vegetation is required at maturity of the plants to abide by South Jordan City code. In conjunction with the Water-Wise plant rebate and the Drip System Conversion Kits you can transform your parkstrip for little to no cost. Program available from April 15th to October 15th. There will be no delivery BEFORE or AFTER program dates.
DRIP SYSTEM CONVERSION KITS
We now offer drip system conversion kits. Each kit includes everything you need to convert your parkstrip from spray heads to drip irrigation. Converting zones such as a parkstrip from turf with overhead spray to a drip system and water wise plants will reduce water use by over 80% Click the link below for the form and rules.
Refer to FlipYourStrip Program Instructions below for more detail:
Step One: Schedule a prior inspection of the parkstrip with our Water Conservation Coordinator, Connor Oswald at coswald@sjc.utah.gov. Once the inspection has been completed approved, the grass and dirt will need to be removed down to about 3 inches below the top of the sidewalk. Using a sod cutter is typically the easiest way to remove the grass.
Step Two: Email or call as soon as the grass and dirt has been removed to set an appointment for SJC to come out and deliver a drip-system conversion kit. We can also show you how to install the drip conversion kit. During this same step you will purchase Water-Wise, Drought Resistant plants which will cover 50% of the parkstrip at full-growth (and not be over 24” tall). You get up to a $300 rebate for the reimbursement of the plants. To complete step 2 and receive the rock, you will need the water-wise plants in the ground and the drip kit installed.
Step Three: Once the drip-kit and plants are installed, email or call to set an appointment to deliver the rock. We do not drop the rock unless the plants are in the ground. Typically, deliveries are about a week out on our schedule. We also have a deadline of October 15th each year to deliver the rock by.
Step Four: Once the plants, drip-kit, and rock have all been installed, you will need to send in the 3 required forms of documentation for the plant rebate. We will need the “before” and “after” pictures showing grass and the completed strip, the receipts for the plants, and the FlipYourStrip forms filled out front and back. Once we have all 3 forms of documentation, the rebate can be processed and mailed in the form of a check. Rebate process times are 4-6 weeks from when the work is completed and the rebate forms are submitted.

CURBING REBATE FORM
The City of South Jordan will provide a maximum refund of $250 to residents who remove turf grass from their yard and install curbing, such as concrete or brick curbing. This rebate may be used in conjunction with water-wise plant, rock mulch, and drip irrigation rebates. Click the link below for information on eligibility and requirements.
HARDSCAPE REBATE
The City of South Jordan will provide a maximum refund of $500 to residents who remove turf grass from their yard and replace with hardscaping such as concrete, pavers, decks, or patios. Click the link below for information on eligibility and requirements.
Refer to Hardscape Rebate Program Instructions below for more detail:
Step One: Schedule a prior inspection of the hardscape/curbing area with our Water Conservation Coordinator, Connor Oswald (coswald@sjc.utah.gov). During this inspection, we will approve the area/project, measure the area, approve the project/materials, and have a conversation of how the process works. Take a clear “before” picture of the area showing the grass that will be removed.
Step Two: Once the inspection has been completed and you are approved for the material, size of the project, etc. complete the work that was approved during step one. When the grass has been removed, and the material is installed in the area or the project is completed, contact Connor Oswald to schedule a time to come re-measure and confirm that the project has been completed. Take a picture from the same place as before to show that the grass is removed and the material is installed.
Step Three: Once the material has been installed and the area has been re-measured, send in the three required forms of documentation for the Hardscape/Curbing rebate. The "before" and "after" pictures showing grass and the completed project, the receipts for the material, and the Hardscape/Curbing forms filled out will need to be turned in. Once all three forms of documentation are returned, the rebate can be processed and mailed in the form of a check. Rebate process times are 4-6 weeks from when the work is completed and rebate forms are submitted.
